Nathaniel flinched as he heard the door slam. Courtney was home and she sounded angery. He rushed his Xbox and jammed his finger in the button but the stupid thing wasn't going to turn off. He ripped the cord from the wall and breathed a sigh. He stood and straightened his shirt. His buttons were lined up with his zipper on his pants. His hair was as straight as he could get it. He heard her heels clack against the floor, she was coming closer. He surveyed the room quickly, he couldn't stand a fight today. A slip of color caught Nathaniel's eye. He dived onto the floor and found a bright pink peice of paper. He picked it up, ignore the words scrawled quikly across it and jammed it in his pocket. He stood just as Courtney came into the room. A beer clutched in her fingers and her tongue between her teeth, "What are you doing?" She asked, her voice was harsh, she'd been yelling.

Sounds of canned laughter from the sitcom going unheeded offered a suppliment to Jan's quiet snores.
